Needle binding courseBook now
With a needle and yarn, you make a hat in the so called Oslo Stitch.
There are finds of needle binding that are more than 6000 years old. However, most of it is found in Viking times in the Nordic countries. In older times, needle binding was mostly used for the household, such as milk sieves and not so much for clothes. However, the technique was used for smaller garments, such as mittens, in the Viking Age.
The teacher is Ann Árnastein. She was just 5 years old, when her interest in handcraft started – knitting, embroidery, sewing and ribbon braiding. Furrier and fashion design are her educations and she is an experienced teacher in courses in braiding, knitting, rya, traditional leather shoes and many other.
The course is in Faroese (Scandinavian and English as needed) and lasts for 3 hours. Limited seats!
The course takes place in Tórshavn. Included in the price are materials: needle and yarn. We offer something to drink and a Viking cookie. In addition, you get a day ticket to the Viking market, which is in the plantation in the days 1st to 3rd of July 2022.
