Born in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, Sóley Stefánsdóttir has attracted a huge following over the years with her dark, fairytale-infused songs.
Sóley launched her solo career in 2010 with the release of her ‘Theater Island’ EP, which preceded her fantastical, sepia-toned alt-pop tunes of debut full-length ‘We Sink’ in 2011.
Having studied piano and composition at the Icelandic Art Academy, Sóley released her ‘Krómantík’ EP in 2014, comprising of piano works originally composed for various theater and film productions. Early 2015 saw her to return to even darker, nocturnal themes with sophomore album “Ask The Deep”.
Third album ‘Endless Summer’ arrived in Summer 2017 which saw a departure from the darkness of ‘Ask The Deep’, focussing on more organic/acoustic arrangements. The album was written and recorded over the span of 12 months with long-time friend and collaborator Albert Finnbogason.
Summer through Fall 2019 sees Sóley crafting new musical blends and concoctions for her fourth solo album, which she will be showcasing ahead of the album’s release in 2020 with a special run of shows in the Faroe Islands.
Expect a dark, surreal and experimental journey into the mind of this enigmatic Icelander.
