Nina and Madeleine are two retired women living in the south of France who have been in a relationship for decades. To outside eyes, they are simply neighbours living on the top floor of their building. They come and go between their two apartments, sharing the tender joys of everyday life together. Until the day their relationship is turned upside down by an unexpected event and Madeleine’s daughter steps in to help, interrupting their discreet dynamic.
Two Of Us is a story about unconditional love and fierce independence against all odds. It’s rare opportunity to see queer senior women portrayed with dignity and respect. It’s certainly easy to appreciate why France selected this as their entry for the Oscars.
