"The monologue *'Can You Sit Down, God? We Need to Talk'* is now coming to town.

The monologue *"Can You Sit Down, God? We Need to Talk"* was a resounding success at this year’s Nonstop Performing Arts Festival in Moss, Norway. On January 18th, Faroese audiences will also have the opportunity to experience this extraordinary play.

Geir Meum Olsen is a well-known playwright for both stage and screen, a festival organizer, and a theater director. However, in this deeply personal work, he steps onto the stage himself to tell his story. The story revolves around his seriously ill brother and how Geir, as the big brother, tries to save him.

The play is a dialogue with a present — or absent — God, as well as with the audience, touching on themes of Sunday school, sin, golden stickers, childhood faith, hope, and love.

It is a humorous and satirical monologue that tackles some of the most difficult questions we face as human beings. At the same time, it is personal, heartfelt, and inquisitive. The text resonates with everyone, regardless of what they believe — or don’t believe — like a liberating and refreshing breeze.

The character in the play needs to have a conversation with God. Man to man, face to face. He is confused and exhausted by being a modern human, expected to find all the answers to life’s big questions. Unable to surrender to something greater than himself, he asks God:

*"Can you sit down, God? We need to talk."*

Geir Meum Olsen is a familiar figure in Norwegian theater. For many years, he led Parkteatret and founded the Nonstop Festival in 2005. Since the early 1980s, he has participated in countless stage and screen productions.

He has written scripts for numerous award-winning films and TV series, both nationally and internationally. For many years, he was a key member of Tom Sterri's writing team, responsible for some of the biggest successes at Chat Noir, Edderkoppen, and ABC theaters.

*"Can You Sit Down, God? We Need to Talk"* marks the first time Geir takes the stage as the lead in his own work.
