Christmas concert with Sway (FO)
Get in the Christmas spirit with barbershop jazzi frá SWAY!
They will perform a cosy and entertaining set of Christmas songs, including tracks from their new Christmas album Jólasoul, released on 6th December, alongside Jasmin Mote and Anna Sofía Skoradal.
Torleik Mortensen on double bass and Kristian Pauli Ellefsen on piano are joining them.
SWAY is a jazz trio consisting of Marianna Winther Nagata, Katrina Olsen, and Dania O. Tausen. The trio performs lively and highly entertaining songs, a cappella. The trio draws special inspiration from The Andrews Sisters, the iconic jazz trio from the 1930s. SWAY’s performances feature a mix of classic material from artists like The Andrews Sisters and their own songs composed in a similar style.
Since its formation, SWAY has made a significant impact on various Faroese stages. They have arranged music for—and performed with—the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra and Tórshavn Big Band rearranged and performed a song with Eivør, and toured schools nationwide with Listaleypurin. They’ve even sung for Queen Margrethe. In 2021, they won the Stella Polaris music competition and have given numerous concerts around the islands for private and public events.
SWAY is described as a refreshing presence in Faroese music culture. They delight audiences with their charisma and humorous performances. Their music is entertaining, and their energy is infectious, which explains how they’ve charmed their way into the hearts of the Faroese people.
