Geytin 2025
An evening of Faroese short films
Red carpet, sparkling glasses, and golden awards. Once again, film enthusiasts and filmmakers from across the Faroe Islands will gather as the popular short film competition Geytin returns. Get your ticket today and join us in celebrating Faroese short film art at Geytin 2025.
This festive evening will crown the year's best Faroese short film, and after the event at The Nordic House, Filmshúsið invites all ticket holders to an exclusive afterparty in the city (details to follow).
Runavík Municipality is once again sponsoring the grand Geytin Prize, worth 40,000 DKK. The competition is expected to be fierce, as Filmshúsið director Marjun Niclasen explains:"Last year, we saw several filmmakers who are studying at international film schools participate. The growing number of young people pursuing film education is a significant step forward for Faroese film production, and it's no surprise that this is also raising the standard of short films. We hope this won’t deter self-taught natural talents from entering the competition, but it’s safe to expect tough competition once again."
The jury, tasked with the challenging job of selecting the winner of the short film competition, comprises representatives from Filmshúsið, Kringvarp Føroya, Føroysk Filmsfólk, Filmsfelagið, and Klippfisk, along with an international film representative.
Geytin aims to inspire, strengthen, and encourage interest in Faroese short film art. It celebrates Faroese film production and provides an opportunity for both filmmakers and film enthusiasts to come together. The competition is a collaboration between Filmshúsið and The Nordic House.
