Ljósfestin – A Weekend of Culture and Celebration
Ljósfestin is a cultural weekend organized by Vágs Kommuna. It offers free events for everyone except for services provided by businesses and organizations, such as food sales in the festival tent.

In 2021, Vágs Kommuna created a special day in Vágur dedicated to art, music, and cultural events. The initiative was launched to mark the 100th anniversary of the hydroelectric power plant in Botnur, and the first event was held in collaboration with SEV.

The name Ljósfest dates back to 1921 when the people of Vágur gathered outside the old school to celebrate the arrival of electricity, as the power plant in Botnur began producing energy.
