This annual public meeting with speech and singing takes place on Sunday 4th August at 3pm, if the weather permits it.
The speech will be held by the ceramic artist Guðrið Poulsen, who created the monument commemorating women who died in childbirth.
We'll meet at the Library at 2pm, if the weather permits it we will take the hike to Skarð, if not the meeting will continue in Ribarhús. Updates regarding where the meeting will take place will be updated on the event ''Fólkafundur á Skarðinum'' on Facebook.
This gives participants the opportunity to see the monument, which is situated in the park by the library. The hike takes around an hour, with the opportunity of continuing to the ‘Altar’ or to Hellurnar afterwards, so bring a packed lunch and coffee and wear sensible shoes and clothing.
