Experience the beautiful area around Sandur by foot - run or walk, your choice!

On May 16, 2025, the Sandoy Half Marathon will take place for the very first time, organized by the local sportsclub B71 and ALT Events.

The poet Heðin Brú once wrote that Sandoy was "the maiden among the Faroe Islands". The unique flatlands and low mountains are characteristic of Sandoy, and the chosen route for the upcoming half marathon takes full advantage of its beautiful surroundings, offering a special experience for runners and walkers alike.

In addition to the half marathon distance, which includes the famous route around Lake Sandsvatn and a scenic road to Søltuvík, participants will also have the option to sign up for a shorter distance, allowing everyone to participate at their own pace.

Prices:
The 21 km half marathon costs 500DKK per person
The shorter routes between Søltuvík and Sandur or around Sandsvatn cost 400DKK per person.
All participants will receive a race number, fruit, and water along the course, as well as a refreshment from MOWI at the finish line. Everyone crossing the finish line will also receive a special medal, and there will be entertainment after the race.
