Storytelling: Workshop

Storytelling Workshop in the School in Oyndarfjørður on Friday, August 23.

Kate Corkery has previously been to the Faroe Islands and held courses on the art of storytelling; whether personal or public stories, real or fictional. The workshop is aimed at anyone who is interested in storytelling and wants to develop their skills. This includes teachers, tour guides, actors, lecturers, stand-up comedians, and anyone interested in storytelling and communication.

The number of participants is limited to ensure that everyone gets as much individual attention as possible. The instruction will be in English, but the stories can be in Faroese.

The workshop begins at 3:00 PM with Kate explaining and giving tips on delivery and techniques. This will be followed by a meal break, during which participants will have the opportunity to go for a walk or prepare. The evening will conclude with participants having the chance to try their hand at storytelling.

Kate grew up in Cork, Ireland, but has lived in London for many years, where she is affiliated as a storyteller with the 'Irish Cultural Centre' and the 'London Irish Centre.' She has traveled to many countries and festivals in China, South America, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Norway, and Denmark to both perform and teach others how to make stories come alive and be captivating. She is passionate about making storytelling a part of education and, in this context, founded 'Everyday Magic,' which works to bring stories, music, and art to schools in London. In 2017, she wrote the book "Cork Folk Tales," which is a diverse mix of funny, touching, bloodthirsty, and violent stories from Cork. She has won the "Fringe First Award" for her outstanding role in developing the art of storytelling, and her very personal narrative "Sweet Shop on The Shore" won "Performance of the Year" in the UK.

The cost is 350 kr (+ fee), including dinner and coffee.
