Akrar - Víkarbyrgi
A short and easy walk along the grass-covered path to Akrar with beautiful views over the bays of Vágur and Víkar, where you will see unique strata sloping drastically eastward
At Akrar you will find the village path by going through the sheep pen at the end of the village. Leaving the pen, climb over the fence and head straight up on the left (east) side of the fence.
When you reach the first rise, continue up along the river Ærgisá, east of the ravine. From there, follow the cairns all the way down to Víkarbyrgi.
Lovely views are to be found at the hillside Brúgvin, which is also a cosey place to take a break and enjoy the views of the headland Porkerisnes to the north and the islet Baglhólmur to the east, where you also will notice how the terrain has sunk.
When coming down to Víkarbyrgi, you can take the main road down to the village rather than taking the village path. Doing so, you avoid having to climb over a fence as you draw near to the village.
The hike can be taken in either direction. Taking the hike from Akrar is slightly steeper
