The view north through the fjord Funningsfjørður. After walking the 60 altitude meters from the road up the mountain gorge Sniðsgil, we have reached the highest point on the village path. The rest of the trip to Elduvík is a 3km pleasant walk - except for a small slippage which we must cross. Photo: Óli Gardshodn

View from the headland Elduvíksnes into the fjord Funningsfjørður. The village path is all the way up on this rock wall that we stand on, and it goes as far in as we can see, after which it goes down the road through a mountain gorge. It is actually a very nice and quiet walk. Photo: Óli Gardshodn

WARNING: A new landslide has made the hike back to Elduvík challenging.
The trip from Funningsfjørður to Elduvík over the gully Sniðsgil is one of two paths between the two villages. It is easy to hike from Funningsfjørður up through the Sniðsgil and up over Gøtuhjalli, a crag. From there, you walk down the sloping terraces to Elduvík. Some might find it difficult to walk across the two first gullies between the Cape of Elduvík and the í Barmi neighbourhood of Elduvík due to rockfall. The path at á Hjallanum that runs by the fjord of Funningsfjørður has some traffic noise as it is just above a main road. The first cairn in Sniðsgil is visible from the road. The cairns are not visible from the village of Elduvík.
