Maybe a Village

BYDANS: Premiere of a new dance performance by RIVA

What was it that brought two people together or separated them?
What revolutionary role can a moment of everyday life play?
Which relationships grew, and which withered?

Maybe a Village (Kanska ein bygd) is a poetic performance that intertwines dance and literature, exploring what it means to remember past relationships.

The setting is a gallery of portraits shaped through conversations and choreographic narratives about different people. What they have in common is that they are all dead.

The work seeks to create an intimate space that questions who we are, both with and without other people. And what we leave behind when we are no longer here.

Maybe a Village is part of bydans - A Moving Festival
bydans is a new dance festival spanning over two days, celebrating the diversity of contemporary dance and aiming to bring a wider range of contemporary dance to places where there is a wish for more dance experiences.

The festival allows audiences to experience new dance formats and might even expand their view of what dance can do. The programme of bydans consists of three Nordic works in different formats: a VR dance film experience, an intimate performance where the audience gets close to the performers and an evening-length performance where poetry and dance are intertwined. test

This is the first time bydans will be taking place and is an initiative by KOMMA Performance Productions and RIVA the Faroese Dance Company in collaboration with the Nordic House in the Faroe Islands.

The festival is made possible with support from Nordic Culture Point, Nordic Culture Fund, and The Faroese Ministry of Social Affairs and Culture.
